The Droids. Made in the 1980s, this animated TV series starred R2-D2 and C3PO on their adventures through the galaxy. Apparently they had somehow been separated from the Organa family. These were both individual stand alone episodes, but they also had a mini series thing going, where they had the one owner and usually one main villain.
The Ewoks Made in the 1980s, the animated TV series starred a young Wicket the Ewok and friends. Presumably set before Return of the Jedi.
Clone Wars animated mini series. These mini episodes were shown during the commercials of other shows. Set during the Clone Wars, animation by Genndy Tartovosky.
The Clone Wars animated series with a 3D bent. Full 1/2 hour (if you count commercials.)
Highlights of these series include:
C3PO and R2-D2 are far more animated in the cartoon, with facial expressions and more flexibility.
A better view of the outside galaxy with the droids: they take on the Empire, but also battle pirates and search for treasure with a merchant.
The Ewoks are shown to be tough and smart people themselves as well as cute. They face many enemies on their homeworld, including Dulaks and Morag, the Tulga witch.
Clone Wars. The mini series gives a wide view of the conflict. It also introduced Durge the bounty hunter and Asaaj Ventress. The Volume 2 DVD ends with Palpatine's kidnapping right before Revenge of the Sith. It doesn't quite match the novel "Labyrinth of Evil" by Lucerno's account, but it is similar.
The Clone Wars. Ongoing. Asaaj Ventress's backstory is revealed, along with what young Boba Fett is up too. Introduces Ziro the Hutt, bounty hunter Cad Bane, brings in Jabba the hutt and more.
The Small Screen Movies
The Ewok movies were released as made for TV in the US, but in some places were shown in theaters. They had a much lower budget than the regular films.
The Holiday Special Lives long in infamy as the one George Lucas would like to destroy. This highly musical story from the 1970's features the Wookie homeworld and Chewbacca's family celebrating 'Life Day.' Unfortunately, it has no story, just singing and isolated segmants. Highly recommended as a cure for insomnia or to torture your enemy. It's ninety minutes and cannot be found for legal purchase.
Ewoks: Caravan of Courage The children Mace and Cindel Tawani have wandered off on Endor after they and their parents crash. When they return, their parents are missing, and only the Ewoks can help save them from the giant Gorax.
Ewoks: Battle for Endor When disaster strikes the Towani family and their friends, the Ewoks, it is up to young Cindel, Wicket, and new friends Noah and Teek to defeat the new enemy.
Highlights of these series include:
The Holiday Special has 2 good features: the animated introduction to Boba Fett by the same animators as the Droids and Ewoks cartoons and an intro to Chewbacca's family.
The Caravan of Courage has some interesting new features of Endor, as well as some lessons in not judging others. Just because it's a cute furball, doesn't mean it isn't smart and brave, as well as a loyal friend.
The Battle for Endor is a bit of a tear jerker, involving loss and leave taking.
