The Core Worlds
Coruscant, the Galactic Capital. It has been home of the Republic Senate
since it's founding, became Capital of the Empire after the Clone Wars and became home again to the New Republic Council about 3 years after the battle of Yavin.
For most of it's existance, the city was known as 'Galactic City' and was temporarily renamed under the Empire 'Imperial City'.
Due to it's strategic and symbolic location,
This world has been the target of many wars and the Capital of the Republic, the Empire, the New Republic.
It's home to a multitude of different species.
The city covers the entire planet, and has it's own 'ecosystems'. The higher society lives on the surface, the farther down you go toward the surface, the more gangs, criminals and
wild creatures one encounters.
It has several moons and most of it's energy supply involves using solar mirrors to collect the sunlight and redirect to areas of the planet that would otherwise
remain frozen.
It is located at the Galactic Core and is the nexus of the primary hyperspace trading routes.
It underwent massive changes when it was attacked during the Yuuzhan Vong war. One moon was destroyed, it's orbit altered and bioforming took place. Coruscant's year is 368 days, a day is 24 hours, and this is considered 'galactic standard time'.
Alderaan was a the 'shining star' of the core worlds. It was destroyed by the first Death Star.
This world had a wide variety of plant and animal life. It had rolling plains, vast oceans and mountains.
The people of Alderaan, (humans) were keen on protecting their world and did their best to minimize the impact of their cities on this world. It was previously home to the Killiks, an insectoid species who died out or were killed.
It was known for universities and culture.
It is most famous for the Royal House of Alderaan, a family who ruled by blood but also were elected to the Senate. Bail Organa was the last, killed when the Death Star destroyed the planet for the families Rebel allegiance. His adopted daughter Princess Leia headed the
New Republic as Chief of State and also had influence.
Alderaan Refugees went on to seek a new world to settle. They often went on pilgrimages to 'The Graveyard', the asteroid belt which is all that is left of the planet.
